Standardized Tests

With some foresight, planning, and targeted studying, standardized test scores can help your chances of admissions in several ways, even if testing isn’t your strength and even if you don’t get high scores across the board or on every section. Before we ask students to buckle by studying consistently over a number of weeks before a targeted exam, we like consulting with them about choosing the best particular set of tests and timing based on their academic records, extracurricular pursuits, and college goals. The best results come from the right combination of small prep classes and private tutoring, unique to every college bound student, to support individual learning styles and goals.

Happy Mom!

Private Tutoring

For some students, one-on-one tutoring provides the most effective learning experience and greatest bottom-line scoring gains. Private tutoring affords the most individualized attention to a student’s particular needs and goals, as well as the greatest scheduling flexibility. Students can purchase individual lessons or various packages at lower rates with Dr. Yo or one of our CPE-certified instructors. All private tutoring sessions are available in person in West Hartford and online using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime etc. Details and rates here.

Students (or their parents) can arrange with friends and classmates (or their parents) flexible semi-private test prep tutoring. Combining the kind of individualized attention of private sessions with the learning benefits that only come from studying in groups, this is a highly effective, and highly cost-effective, option. Details and rates here.

Small Prep Classes for the SAT, ACT, and APs

Our standardized test Class Dates and Registration page includea all our SAT, PSAT, ACT, and AP Review classes, organized chronologically by exam date. For each ACT and SAT offered nationally throughout the year, we offer 4 classes: our most popular 6-Session class, a gold-standard 9-Session class for students who want to maximize their scores or who know they need extra practice and instruction, a 3-Session Crash Course—all of which cover all parts of the exams (see details for SAT and ACT)—and a Standardized Test Math Class for students who want either to focus on just Math or to supplement a 3-, 6-, or 9-Session class with a dedicated math class. By covering all the math material on the SAT, ACT, and Math Level 1 Subject Test, this class also helps reinforce foundational course material in algebra, geometry, and precaluculs. All classes can be taken in person in West Hartford and online using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime etc. Details and rates here.
