Kathleen McLean earned her high school diploma from Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, where she began her study of Spanish and Latin American Language and Culture. She continued to pursue that passion at Wesleyan University in CT, where she received a B.A. Her M.A. in Romance Languages is from Duke University. Ms. McLean has taught and tutored for nearly a decade, and has experience on multiple levels, including the high school level. She is currently the Spanish and French tutor at Loomis Chaffee School and taught at Watkinson School in Hartford last year. Having lived in Spain and Mexico and worked extensively with Hispanic immigrants during her non-profit career, Ms. McLean is both fluent and culturally competent. Her tutoring approach is tailored to the strengths of each individual student and designed to empower students to achieve their best. She is a supportive and compassionate tutor. One of her graduate school teachers commented that Ms. McLean is “a born teacher.”
Ms. McLean has also taught and tutored English and writing and has been employed as an editor and writer. Finally, she has worked one on one with students on the SAT Verbal sections.
